Sara Beers is the author of Amongst the Trees and the founder of MAGIC CABIN BOOKS, an independent book publisher rooted in storytelling, nature, and community. With a background in production and creative art direction, she was excited to take on each step of the self-publishing process, including writing, storyboarding, formatting, layout, and managing the intricacies of print production and book distribution.

Inspired by time spent in the San Bernardino Mountains, Sara developed the book’s visual direction using a palette drawn from the local landscape. Lakeside sunset pinks, vivid mountain sky blues, and pale yellow inspired by the classic national park sign helped shape a strong sense of place. She selected an approachable illustration style, featuring real plants and animals native to the region, and carefully refined the pacing, typography, and print quality across multiple formats to ensure each copy felt as close to the original vision as possible.

Amongst the Trees is Sara’s debut title, created to spark curiosity, introduce children to the natural world, and offer comfort through thoughtful storytelling.
